Announcement: New Interview On Off The Record

March 7, 2025

OFF THE RECORD: MI GOP Chairman Jim Runestad is joined by Democrat Chairman Curtis Hertel Jr with Senior Capitol Correspondent Tim Skubick and Capitol press corps colleagues Craig Mauger and Lauren Gibbon.

Dear Fellow Patriots,

I hope this message finds you well! Reflecting on my campaign for the Chairman of the Michigan GOP, I want to emphasize the importance of having leaders who can confidently engage with Democrat counterparts. Throughout my journey, I’ve debated prominent figures such as Joycelyn Benson and Dana Nessel, and I understand the necessity of effectively conveying our message while maintaining a respectful tone and avoiding missteps.

Recently, I had the opportunity to debate Curtis Hertel, the new chairman of the Democrat Party. These discussions are vital for disseminating our message and rallying support for our great President and the emerging candidates in Michigan. We tackled significant issues, including tariffs, which are not merely tools for trade but essential measures for protecting Michigan jobs, enhancing our national security, and fortifying our economy.

As a steadfast supporter of President Trump’s policies, I am convinced that the proposed tariffs are pivotal for rejuvenating our manufacturing sector, addressing the challenges of illegal immigration, and safeguarding the economic future of hardworking families. While we understand that change doesn’t happen overnight, the long-term advantages are evident: a fairer trade system, safer communities, and a more robust Michigan.

Let us unite in advocating for policies that prioritize American workers and families. Together, we can make a meaningful difference and ensure a brighter future for our state. Thank you for your continued support as we fight for the values that matter most!
