AZGOP Blasts Governor Hobbs for Joining Partisan Attack on President Trump's National Guard Deployment

June 8, 2025

PHOENIX, AZ - The AZGOP condemns Governor Katie Hobbs for joining a group of Democrat governors in a politically motivated attack on President Donald J. Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard in defense of law and order.

President Trump acted within his constitutional authority to restore peace in communities where local leadership has failed. It is not only legal for the federal government to activate the National Guard in such emergencies, it is necessary. Instead of standing up for the safety of Arizonans and Americans, Governor Hobbs chose to sign onto a letter that falsely portrays the President’s leadership as a threat, rather than a solution.

“We are disappointed but not surprised. Time and again, Governor Hobbs has prioritized partisan agendas over public safety. By siding with those who oppose federal support for law enforcement and community protection, she is undermining the mission of those working to restore peace. Let us be clear: this is not about politics, it is about protecting families, securing our streets, and upholding the rule of law. We proudly stand with President Trump as he takes bold, decisive action to defend the American people,” AZGOP Chairwoman Gina Swoboda said.
