WINDSOR, CO - This week, U.S. Representatives Ken Buck (R-CO) and Brittany Pettersen (D-CO) announced the formation of the Delivering Postal Solutions Caucus, a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers dedicated to working together across district and state lines to share their constituents’ postal experiences and request updates and answers from USPS about subpar service.
"For too long, constituents across my district have failed to receive adequate or prompt service from the United States Postal Service. It's unacceptable and needs to be corrected," stated Congressman Buck. "I'm optimistic that this new, bipartisan caucus can work together to finally deliver results for Coloradans who have been repeatedly failed by the USPS system in their communities.”
“People in Colorado’s 7th Congressional District and across the most rural parts of our state rely on the postal service for prescription drugs, important bank documents, food, and more,” said Rep. Pettersen. “USPS should be a lifeline to our communities, but instead residents continue to suffer because of extreme delays in postal service and, in some cases, a total halt of mail and package delivery. Coloradans deserve better, so I’m proud to join Representative Buck to share our concerns and get answers from the Postal Service.”
Background:
-For years, the Postal Service would not deliver to Old Town Elizabeth – my office worked together with the Town Administration to solve this issue and get the mail flowing again.
-Having received hundreds of complaints from residents, my office and I are pressuring the local postmaster to produce a plan to solve the Castle Rock Post Office’s numerous delivery issues.
-For rural Coloradans, traveling hundreds of miles for critical mail is not an option – my office has worked tirelessly to ensure that rural post offices stay open and are staffed with ample rural mail carriers to properly service their communities.
