WINDSOR, CO – Today, Congressman Ken Buck announced the newest class of Service Academy appointments.
In total, 11 students from Colorado’s 4th Congressional District received appointments to attend the U.S. Military Academy West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
“Congratulations to these bright and hardworking students who have all chosen to commit their lives in service to our nation,” stated Congressman Ken Buck. "These young men and women have exhibited excellence in leadership, academics, physical fitness, and character. I’m honored to announce their appointments and wish all of our students success in their upcoming academic and military careers.”
Appointments are earned based on their academic record, demonstrated leadership qualities, and interview with our nomination’s committee.
The U.S. Service Academies offer students an undergraduate education that integrates academic studies with athletic competition and preparation for military leadership. To be admitted, students must be nominated by their Representative, their Senator, or the Vice President of the United States. Upon receiving a nomination, applicants must pass the Service Academies admissions process. Once admitted, these students will receive a top-tier education for free with the commitment that they will serve in the armed forces for five years after graduation.
