Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (CO-03) helped secure a $5,109,735 grant for Pueblo Community Health Center. In fiscal year 2023, Congresswoman Boebert worked to secure $1.85 billion for community health centers in an appropriations request signed into law.
Congresswoman Lauren Boebert stated, “I am thrilled that the Pueblo Community Health Center received an over $5.1 million grant. These funds will be used to improve public health and serve the Pueblo community. I am working diligently to secure resources that will improve the lives of people across Colorado’s Third District.”
Background:
In FY 2023, Congresswoman Boebert secured 22 appropriations requests that were signed into law, including $1.85 billion for community health centers that provide medical care to rural communities. While the Congresswoman could not ultimately vote for the appropriations package due to Democrat poison pills included in the legislation, she worked in a bipartisan fashion with members of the House Appropriations Committee to ensure that these provisions were signed into law. Then Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee Kay Granger gave Congresswoman Boebert credit for her “individual requests that were included in H.R. 2617.”
Congresswoman Boebert is a consistent advocate for rural healthcare. In FY 2022, she secured $1.74 billion for community health centers. She also worked with state Rep. Matt Soper to successfully secure Sole Community Hospital Provider Status for Delta Health. This increased Delta Health’s Medicare reimbursement rate and stabilized drug prices for seniors.
Community health centers save the health care system $24 billion annually since they cost less than one-sixth of an average visit to an emergency room. In Colorado’s Third Congressional District, there are eight Community Health Centers, and this grant will provide better access to quality medical care, provide more jobs, and strengthen rural communities.
