ICYMI: IL Republicans Fight Back Against Dems Anti-Business Crusade

June 23, 2025

CHICAGO - With total control of Springfield, Illinois Democrats are once again abusing their supermajorities and trampling the state Constitution. In the chaotic final hours of the spring legislative session, Democrats blatantly ignored the Constitutionally required ‘Three Readings Rule,’ the last safeguard to ensure transparency and public debate. Instead, they rammed through SB328, a reckless bill that opens the floodgates for out-of-state lawsuits against Illinois businesses.

Let’s be clear - this isn’t just a rules violation, it’s a calculated power grab. Illinois Republicans are taking action and have filed a lawsuit to hold Democrats accountable for shredding the Constitution and sneaking dangerous legislation into law under the cover of night. This was just one of many transgressions; Democrats also suspended legislative rules and waived posting requirements with zero regard for process, transparency, or the people they’re supposed to serve.

Bottom Line: If signed, SB328 would make Illinois just the second state in the country to let anyone, anywhere sue Illinois businesses - even if the case has absolutely nothing to do with Illinois. This bill is a direct attack on job creators and working families. It’s bad policy, bad governance, and a disgrace to our state.
