Iowa GOP Chair Statement on Kamala Harris Superfan Considering Campaign for Iowa's Second Congressional District

July 17, 2025

DES MOINES – Iowa GOP Chairman Jeff Kaufmann issued the following statement in response to Kamala Harris superfan State Rep. Lindsay James "very seriously considering" a campaign for U.S. House in Iowa’s Second Congressional District:

“If Lindsay James, who has embraced an agenda focused on gender-affirming care for minors, robust abortion access, expanded DEI in education, and increased government spending, chooses to challenge Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, she’ll be running on a platform that’s out of step with most Iowans.

Ashley Hinson has a proven track record of standing on the side of middle-class families. She’s worked with President Trump to pass significant middle class tax cuts, secure our border, and stand up to the woke leftists. Iowans want commonsense leadership, not California-style politics dressed up in a Dubuque zip code.”
