MassGOP Calls on Democratic State Rep Candidate Lisa Field to Come Clean About Lobbying Hypocrisy in Ethics Disclosure - May 5, 2025

BOSTON, MA - The Massachusetts Republican Party is repeating its call for Lisa Field, the Democratic candidate for State Representative in the 3rd Bristol District, to come clean about her lobbying conflicts of interest, many of which were disclosed in past lobbyist reports she has filed with the Secretary of State’s office.

On Monday, Field released a commercial where she once again failed to disclose that she is a lobbyist for the Massachusetts Nurses Association. As a lobbyist, she was also involved in passage of Clean Air Taunton and has lobbied for higher taxes.

“Honesty is always the best policy. Unfortunately, Lisa Field is hiding the truth about her time as a paid lobbyist. She has not done anything selflessly for the community or been a volunteer like Republican candidate and Taunton City Councilor Larry Quintal. Her activities have been part of her position as a highly-paid lobbyist, underscoring her lack of civic commitment to the communities of Taunton and Easton,” said MassGOP Executive Director John Milligan.

According to lobbyist disclosures filed in 2021 with the Secretary of State’s office, Field listed opposing “Aires gasification facility in Taunton” as a lobbying effort on her behalf.

“Field claims she knows the financial hardships facing residents in Taunton and Easton, but the facts say otherwise: She advocated for siphoning more money out of residents’ paychecks with an increased employee payroll tax of 2.5%. She also lobbied for a 10% payroll tax on the self-employed and higher taxes on savings accounts,” said Milligan.

Documentation from the Secretary State’s office shows that Field has lobbied in favor of legislation containing these tax increases over the past four years.

According to the Secretary of State’s database, Field has been a paid professional lobbyist since 2016. She has collected $273,183.43 for lobbying activities performed through 2024.

According to records with the Office of Campaign and Political Finance, Field is listed 36 times as a registered lobbyist. OpenSecrets.org lists Field as a lobbyist 26 times.
