MassGOP Statement on Auditor's Finding That Maura Healey Dealt Out 'Unlawful' No-Bid Migrant Contracts

May 20, 2025

BOSTON - Massachusetts Republican Party Chair Amy Carnevale issued the following statement upon learning about Auditor Diana DiZoglio’s report that Gov. Maura Healey relied on “unlawful” contracts to house and feed tens of thousands of migrants over a period of two years.

“Today’s report is a startling reminder that taxpayers will never get back the billions of dollars Maura Healey wasted by cheering the arrival of countless migrants and declaring that Massachusetts will remain a sanctuary state. In that time, Steward Hospital declared bankruptcy, forcing the closure of two hospitals, and most recently the state’s employee healthcare system fell on the brink of insolvency. How many more fiscal fires are going to be set because of Healey’s gross pattern of using tax dollars to reward her politically-connected friends?” asked Carnevale.

  • Dozens of similar no-bid contracts were signed by the administration because Healey “failed to adequately assess and act upon the increased demand for shelter services,” DiZoglio writes.
