NCGOP Statement on General Assembly's First Step of Western NC Relief

October 9, 2024

The North Carolina Republican Party strongly supports this first step to bring relief to Western North Carolina enacted by the General Assembly.

As we continue to help our family and friends across Western North Carolina, we firmly believe that voters in these affected counties must be able to cast a ballot and choose their elected leaders. Now with additional guidance on how, where, and when voters will be able to make their voices heard, we will launch an unprecedented effort ensuring Republicans up and down the ballot win on November 5.

Republican leadership will help rebuild Western North Carolina. The General Assembly has allocated $273 Million to begin the process. Their hard work and sound fiscal policies since 2011 has allowed our state to place billions of dollars in rainy day and emergency funds.

What you will see from the NCGOP will be an all hands effort so voters who want to end inflation and make America affordable again, seal the border and stop the migrant invasion, and strengthen our great military and restore peace through strength will have every available opportunity to get to the polls and make their voice heard.

"As I've talked to leaders across Western North Carolina, my heart breaks for everyone who has lost their loved ones, their homes, and their livelihoods. Through this tragic time, their resolve has never been stronger. We know they will come out to vote for strong leadership. They will come out to vote for common sense. They will come out to help President Trump Make America Great Again,” said NCGOP Chairman Jason Simmons.
