Resolution in Support of Families

June 14, 2025

WHEREAS, the North Dakota Republican Party is committed to liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, and recognizes the importance of God-ordained institutions;

WHEREAS, marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God for companionship, mutual support, procreation, and the raising of children, as affirmed by natural law and Holy Scriptures;

WHEREAS, the biological reality of male and female and their complementary roles form the foundation of human life and social stability, with families anchored by a married mother and father being essential to society;

WHEREAS, research shows that children in stable, two-parent households are more likely to thrive emotionally, academically, and socially, with lower rates of poverty, substance abuse, and criminal involvement;

WHEREAS, the erosion of the nuclear family and a shift toward cooperation, healing, and long-term child-centered outcomes;

WHEREAS, public policy should affirm the equal, natural rights of both parents to be actively involved in the upbringing of their children and remove financial or legal incentives that promote conflict over cooperation;

WHEREAS, families deserve efficient, accountable government that respects civil liberties, upholds the rights of both parents and children, and avoids partiality or disproportionate advantages for individuals or interest groups;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the North Dakota Republican Party urges the North Dakota Legislative Assembly to enact policies that affirm traditional marriage and the importance of two-parent households for the raising of children;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the NDGOP calls upon the Legislative Assembly to adopt legislation that supports marriage, encourages equal parenting time and shared responsibility following separation or divorce when both parents are fit, willing, and able, and ensures children are protected, nurtured, and educated in alignment with moral and constitutional values;

BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED, that we encourage our elected leaders to affirm the truths of the natural nuclear family, protect the rights of both mothers and fathers, and support the vital role of strong families in fostering a prosperous, virtuous, and free North Dakota.

BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to all Republican members of the North Dakota State Legislature and to the Governor of North Dakota for their consideration.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:

1. The NDGOP shall ensure that this resolution be posted on the official website ndgop.org

2. The designated website administrator is authorized and directed to oversee the posting and to ensure that the resolution remains accessible online indefinitely.

3. Should circumstances require removal or update of the posted material, such action shall be documented and approved by the NDGOP Executive Committee.
