CAGOP Statement on Senate Democrats' Vote to Increase Gas Prices

SACRAMENTO - On October 11, 2024, California Republican Party Chairwoman Jessica Millan Patterson released the following statement on Senate Democrats’ vote to increase gas prices at the request of failed Governor Gavin Newsom:

“At a time when Californians are struggling with a sky-high cost of living driven by the failed policies of Democrats’ destructive one-party rule, Senate Democrats chose to make things even harder for them by passing Gavin Newsom’s extreme oil refinery storage mandate. This damaging measure will only exacerbate rising gas prices and create shortages, as even his own administration concedes. Instead of rejecting Newsom’s plan and holding him accountable, Senate Democrats have once again doubled down on harmful, regressive policies. Come November 5, Democrats will have to answer to voters for their reckless decisions and the burdens they’ve imposed on our families.”
