Governor DeWine Announces ODOT Funding for Local Safety Improvements and Sign Upgrades

COLUMBUS, OH -- Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Director Jack Marchbanks on Sep 12th, announced that ODOT will award a total of $15 million in grant funding to support roadway safety improvements and improved road signage in several local cities and townships.

“The safety of those who travel on Ohio’s roadways will always be a top priority," said Governor DeWine. "Whether it's upgrading a major thoroughfare or installing better signage along a small township road, the projects we're supporting will help local governments maintain and improve the streets their citizens drive on each day." 

ODOT is awarding the funding as part of its Small City Grant Program and Township Sign Grant Program.

Through the Small City Grant Program, ODOT is investing $14,324,280 into nine projects in nine communities. Projects will convert intersections to roundabouts, improve or reconstruct roadways, and upgrade traffic signals.

The ODOT Small Cities Grant Program funds projects in cities with populations from 5,000 to 24,999 that are outside the boundaries of a metropolitan planning organization.

As part of the Township Sign Grant Program, ODOT is awarding $845,040.42 to support 38 roadway signage projects in local townships in 30 counties. The program provides funding for signs, posts, and hardware for signs along township-maintained roadways.

Funding for the Township Sign Grant Program is awarded as part of ODOT’s Highway Safety Improvement Program.
