Governor Ron DeSantis Announces Positive Achievements in 2025 School Grades

JACKSONVILLE, FL - On July 7 2025, Governor DeSantis announced school grades for the 2024-25 academic year and highlighted statewide progress monitoring testing. Continuing the trend from 2023-24, improvements were seen in K-12 school performance grades across all school types, including 71% of all graded schools (2,461 schools) earning either an “A” or “B” grade, compared to 64% (2,215) of schools last year. Florida charter schools are also thriving with 77% earning “A” or “B” grades.

“Florida’s use of statewide progress monitoring is yet another example of how Florida leads on education,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “Providing more opportunities for parents and teachers to intervene in a child’s performance in school leads to better outcomes and a higher quality education.”

“This year’s school grades demonstrate that Florida’s focus on the future of education has paid off,” said Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. “Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, Florida has implemented innovative strategies like progress monitoring and provided students with the choices they need to succeed. The 2025 school grades are a reflection of the nation-leading education reforms that Florida has implemented.”

Overview of 2025 School Grades 

• 71% of graded all schools (2,461 schools) earned an “A” or “B” in 2025 compared to 64% (2,215 schools) in 2024.
• 44% of all schools earned an “A” compared to 38% in 2024.
• 1,908 schools (56%) increased their grade or maintained an “A” in 2025.
• The number of schools earning a “D” or “F” decreased from 117 schools in 2024 to only 71 schools in 2025—a reduction of 46 schools.

In 2025, the number of elementary schools earning an “A” increased by 4 percentage points, compared to 2024. The number of middle schools receiving an “A” increased by 9 percentage points, and the number of high schools earning an “A” increased by 10 percentage points.

For 2024-25, 28 school districts received an “A,” 31 districts received a “B,” 8 districts received a “C,” and no districts received a “D” or “F”

Florida’s charter schools also continue to thrive. 77 percent (480) of graded charter schools earned an “A” or “B,” and 68% (412 schools) either increasing their grade or maintaining an “A.”
