On Friday, October 04, 2024, Governor Kevin Stitt announced the appointment of Brett William Butner as the District Judge for Oklahoma’s 22nd Judicial District.

“Judge Butner represents the values we hold dear in Oklahoma—justice, integrity, and respect for individual freedoms,” Gov. Stitt said. “I’m confident his leadership will strengthen our judiciary and protect the rights of all Oklahomans. I look forward to his service on the bench.”

Butner brings 14 years of legal experience to the position. From 2011 to 2018, he served as an associate attorney at Colclazier & Associates, specializing in civil litigation, criminal defense, and family law. In 2018, he was elected as an associate district judge of Seminole County and was re-elected in 2022. Butner is actively involved in the Seminole County Bar Association, serving on its executive committee, and is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association.

“I have a passion for this great state and my community, which is why it’s an honor to be entrusted with this responsibility,” Butner said. “It’s imperative that judicial positions are held by competent and thorough judges who will maintain the integrity of the office. I have maintained the dignity and impartiality required of a judge and look forward to continuing to serve Oklahomans in this new capacity.”

Butner holds degrees from the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University School of Law. Outside of his practice, he enjoys ranching, fishing, playing golf, and spending time with his family. He resides in Wewoka with his wife, Lacey, and their three children.
