Statement From Newly Elected NDGOP Chairman, Matthew Simon

June 17, 2025

I am honored and humbled to have been elected as the new Chairman of the North Dakota Republican Party. As a Christian, a father of four, and a lifelong conservative, I step into this role with deep gratitude and a firm commitment to serve the people of our great state.

First, I would like to thank the NDGOP State Committee for their vote of support in electing me as Chairman. I would also like to thank the other two candidates for chair, Shane Goettle and Judy Estenson, and commend each of them for their many years of service to our party.

Secondly, I would like to thank my predecessor, Sandi Sanford, for her tireless work during her tenure as Chairwoman for the last two years. Your level of commitment has been laudable, and the party is in a better place because of your efforts.

North Dakota is built on the strength of our three main principles: God, family, and freedom. Our culture of self-reliance, productivity, and faith reflects the very best of what it means to be American. I have spent more than a decade working in energy finance, building and maintaining the infrastructure that powers our homes and businesses, while also serving our Party at the grassroots level, from door-knocking and drafting legislation to helping shape bylaws and promoting our candidates. I believe it’s time we brought that same spirit of energy and integrity to the way our Party operates.

As Chairman, I will work to modernize how we communicate, fundraise, and engage with the citizens of North Dakota. It’s time to go beyond generic mailers and start delivering a bold, clear articulation of our conservative vision, rooted in the NDGOP Pillars of Limited Government, Personal Responsibility, Individual Liberty, Family Values, Free Markets, and State Sovereignty.

We will recommit to local outreach, empowering our district committees and precinct leaders to lead in their communities. We will uphold the integrity of our Party by strengthening adherence to our values and NDGOP pillars and ensuring that our platform means something, both to our voters and our elected officials.

Together, we will ensure the NDGOP is not just the majority party, but the party with a mission that is steadfast in principle, bold in vision, and ready to meet the moment. Let’s get to work.

Matthew Simon
Chairman, NDGOP
