AZGOP On Kamala Harris' Disastrous Fox News Interview

October 16, 2024

PHOENIX, AZ - This afternoon, Vice President Kamala Harris failed spectacularly during an interview with Bret Baier on Fox News, once again refusing to take responsibility for her abysmal record on border security, public safety, and the economy.

Instead of giving straightforward answers, Harris deflected from the truth and delivered rehearsed talking points that Americans simply aren’t buying.

Arizona Republican Party Chairwoman Gina Swoboda issued the following statement:

“Kamala Harris’s performance during her Fox News interview was a disaster, filled with distortions and a complete lack of accountability. She thinks she can dodge responsibility for her failed policies, but Arizonans - and the American people - see right through her. Our communities are suffering under record illegal crossings, an economic crisis driven by out-of-control government spending, and deadly fentanyl flooding our streets. Harris can’t rewrite history, no matter how much she tries.”

Here’s the facts:

- Border Crisis: Kamala Harris claimed she has been actively working to protect our border. The truth? Illegal border crossings have skyrocketed under her watch, averaging over 200,000 per month - numbers not seen in previous administrations. Her policies, such as ending the Remain in Mexico program and halting border wall construction, have led to record levels of illegal immigration.
- Inflation and Economy: Harris continued to deny the disastrous impact of the $1.9 trillion stimulus, which experts - including former Obama officials - have blamed for triggering the current inflation crisis. Americans are now paying $1,087 more per month for the same goods and services as they did when Harris and Biden took office.
- Criminal Releases: Harris boasted about her so-called efforts to keep Americans safe, but as California Attorney General and Vice President, she has allowed dangerous criminals, including convicted murderers and rapists, to be released back into the U.S.. In fact, over 47,000 individuals, including those with serious criminal convictions, have been released under her administration’s failed policies.
- Fentanyl Crisis: Arizona has been ravaged by the fentanyl crisis, with Harris’s inaction to secure the border allowing this deadly drug to flood into our communities. Instead of addressing this during the interview, Harris chose to deflect and ignore the devastating consequences of her policies.

Kamala Harris’s interview was nothing more than another attempt to gaslight the American people, but her record is clear: she has failed on every front. Arizonans deserve leadership that will prioritize border security, economic stability, and public safety - not more empty rhetoric.
