DC GOP Congratulates Local Candidates

November 5, 2024

Washington, DC - On November 5, 2024, Washingtonians and citizens nationwide participated in one of the most significant elections in our nation’s history. As we wait for the final victor in the Presidential contest along with the final tally of party control of the U.S. House of Representatives and the United States Senate, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all Republicans on their challenging fought races. Locally, DC Republicans ran a historically higher six candidates in this Presidential cycle.

Patrick Mara, Chairman of the D.C. Republican Party, proudly stated, “We congratulate all our Republican candidates who bravely stepped up and provided choices to D.C. voters at the ballot box. Their hard work and sacrifice have not gone unnoticed.” Mara added, “While the election did not go our way, I am extremely grateful for our local Republican candidates, Robert Simmons (D.C. Council, At-Large), Noah Montgomery (D.C. Council, Ward 7), Nate Derenge (D.C. Council, Ward 8), Nelson Rimensnyder (United States Senator), Ciprian Ivanof (U.S. Representative) and Dr. Myrtle Alexander (Delegate to the U.S. House).

Mara closed, “The DC Republican Party is well positioned organizationally and financially to punch above our weight in the 2026 election cycle. The stranglehold the Democratic Party has on our city is a detriment to safe streets, economic opportunity for small businesses, and education achievement for disadvantaged residents. For the sake of District residents and continued home rule, we must elect Republicans in the 2026 cycle.”

The DC Republican Party is comprised of registered Republicans living throughout the District of Columbia in all eight wards who are nominated and elected to serve as members. It is a state party with three elected members of the 168-member Republican National Committee.
