Grafton County Added to April Disaster Declaration

Concord, NH – Governor Chris Sununu announced Tuesday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) amended its response to a major disaster declaration request for a nor'easter that occurred April 3-5. Grafton County has been added to the declaration.

The addition came after the New Hampshire Department of Safety's Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) continues to work with FEMA and local emergency management officials in Grafton County to complete additional Preliminary Damage Assessments (PDAs). These additional PDAs found enough damage to reach the County's predetermined disaster declaration threshold.

"Our dedicated team at NH Homeland Security and Emergency Management always goes to bat for New Hampshire communities," said Governor Chris Sununu. "This addition will allow more communities to make use of relief funding. I thank the team for their hard work."

Grafton's cost for response efforts related to this event total $450,295. Previous counties included in this disaster include Belknap, Carroll, Rockingham and Sullivan counties.

"The State continues to make sure all eligible damages are accounted for through work with affected communities as well as federal partners," said HSEM Director Rob Buxton. "This addition shows the importance of State, local and federal partners working together to provide local communities access to much needed funding."
