NCGOP Welcomes National Leaders, Elects Party Officers at State Convention

June 10, 2025

GREENSBORO - The North Carolina Republican Party hosted over 2,000 delegates, guests, and elected officials from June 5-8 at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro.

The event kicked off on Thursday, June 5 with an appearance from Jason Miller, Senior Advisor to all 3 of President Trump's presidential campaigns.

On Friday, June 6, Ohio Sen. Bernie Moreno and U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon spoke at the Grand Old Party Dinner.

McMahon spoke about her roots in her home state and the current priorities of the Trump Administration. Previously, McMahon served as SBA Administrator in President Trump's first term.

Saturday, June 7 featured RNC Chairman Michael Whatley at the party's First in Freedom Lunch and Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin headlining The Old North State Dinner. The annual dinner serves as a cornerstone of the State Convention weekend, drawing attendance from members of the state's Congressional delegation, Council of State officials, and state legislators.

Finally, the Sunday, June 8 Prayer Breakfast featured poignant remarks from Faith and Freedom Coalition founder Ralph Reed.

“We were honored to welcome Secretary McMahon, Sen. Moreno, Gov. Youngkin, and all of our great speakers to State Convention this year," said NCGOP Chairman Jason Simmons. “Their leadership, vision, and commitment to our shared conservative values serve as an inspiration as we celebrate our accomplishments and prepare for the 2026 midterms."

2025-27 Chair, Vice Chair Elections

During the Saturday PM Business Session, convention delegates elected the party's top officers for new two-year terms.

Jason Simmons, who served as NCGOP Chairman since March 2024, was elected to a full term. Simmons, who was elected to fill the remainder of former Chairman Michael Whatley in March 2024, led the NCGOP to delivering the state’s electoral votes for President Trump, led Republicans to win Early Voting for the first time in state history, and flipped 3 Congressional seats in the November 2024 General Election.

“It is my honor to serve as State Chairman and I’m filled with gratitude to be elected for a second term. I look forward to continuing to work alongside each and every North Carolina Republican,” said Simmons in his victory speech.

Gay Dillard, a longtime Triad-era party leader, was elected Vice Chair. Her previous work in the party includes serving as a district chair, statewide poll observer, and women's club president.

"I am deeply honored to have been elected NCGOP Vice Chair. Thank you to everyone who supported my campaign and placed their trust in me. Together, we have a bright path ahead as we work towards victory in 2026," said Dillard.
