Formal Request to SoS RE: Voter Rolls

October 8, 2024

For many years the Republican Party has requested that the Oregon Secretary of State audit voter rolls for accuracy and to ensure only legally eligible voters are receiving ballots and casting votes in Oregon elections. Our Secretary of State only recently took action to clear more than 1200 ineligible voters from the rolls after an out-of-state organization made public that the automatic DMV motor voter program has allowed hundreds of illegal ballots to be issued. Despite this evidence the Secretary of State has not taken the initiative to fully audit or clean Oregon’s voter rolls. She only looked at a small portion of voters registered at the DMV since 2021 and continues to insist that voter fraud is “extremely rare.” This small sample highlights how widespread inaccuracies in Oregon’s voter rolls are. The urgent need for an independent full and complete audit of the voter rolls is critical to ensure transparency and to reassure Oregonians that our elections are fair and free of fraud. To this end the Oregon Republican Party has made a formal request of the Secretary of State to accomplish such an audit.
