New Mexico's Congressional Democrats Stand Behind the Biden/Harris Border Crisis

July 25, 2024

ALBUQUERQUE - On July 25, 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning Vice President Kamala Harris and the Biden Administration’s failure to secure the United States border. Democrats overwhelmingly opposed the resolution, with only six House Democrats voting with Republicans. Among the Democrats who opposed the resolution were Representatives Melanie Stansbury, Teresa Leger Fernandez, and Gabe Vasquez, who represents the NM’s border district.

“New Mexico’s representatives, especially Gabe Vasquez, should be ashamed of their vote justifying the Biden/Harris border crisis,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “New Mexico’s unsecured border has resulted in the loss of a New Mexican life, led to a violent assault on a New Mexican woman, empowered cartel and criminal activity, and created a humanitarian crisis unlike any seen before.”

Gabe Vasquez has consistently tried to downplay the influx at New Mexico’s border. He even embarrassed himself during a trip to the border where he intended to prove that there were no illegal immigrants crossing, only to witness multiple men crossing at that exact moment.

Vasquez’s vote today reveals that his open-border stance has not changed.

Since Biden endorsed Kamala Harris for president, Democrats have been working overtime to remedy her reputation through intense gaslighting. We’re now seeing reports claiming she never held a position as ‘Border Czar,’ leaving Americans and members of the press questioning their experienced reality.

Pearce added, “It seems that Democrats are using semantics to distance Vice President Harris from her responsibility and failed leadership in dealing with the border crisis. Whatever Democrats want to call her role, the absolute disaster that has been raging at the southern border for three and a half years reveals she failed at her job. President Trump has promised to secure the border on day one of his presidency and Republicans are ready to end the border crisis in New Mexico especially upon gaining the majority in the state legislature and in Congress.”
